Song of the day: She just likes to fight

I will pretend to share the pain and sadness that the first day of the week brings with all of you, but I am sorry to say (not) that it no longer feels the same way. Anyways  enough with the snarky comments, I will still be here to relieve the pain with a wonderful tune.

So I realized that although I have mentioned this artist a few times I never actually gave him out. So let me fix that mistake nice and fast. His stage name is Four Tet (real life Kieran Hebden), and he plays mainly instrumental, post-rock, electro music. But as you dedicated followers should know, I am starting to appreciate this genre more and more. He also does WONDERFUL remixes of other artists songs (Radiohead, The XX, Explosions in the Sky which he sounds very similar to).

This is a beautiful relaxing tune that will let you mellow out and enter the week in a warm calm kinda way,

It’s called She Just Likes To Fight

I can’t in any way relate to that.

Song of the day: A trio of brilliance

Hello kids,

So I will not lie that I am quite excited for the Radiohead concert tonight. I still have one spare ticket so shout if you want it. So give me a shout if you decide not the miss what will be the best concert ever.

But not only is Radiohead playing tonight, which is already quite a lot to handle. But also FOUR TET and CARIBOU. Both amazing bands.

Today let’s talk about Caribou. So Dan Snaith has been around since the early 2000 creating some undeniably catchy electro beats. However it was first under the name Manitoba, but then after a little trademark issues he renamed it to Caribou. The sound he had been producing had been pretty consistent and appreciated by critics.

But then after an already highly successful launch of Andorra in 2007, Caribou came back in 2010 to blow everyone out of the water. The album is called Swim, and musically drench my ears in this melodic liquid and frog about it in it I did. In my opinion top 3 album of 2010. And I don’t say that lightly.

And then I saw the whole ensemble (Dan has some friends with him now) live here at L’Usine about two years ago and I was blown away. The beauty of the album is all the intricate instrumental sounds that make this album so memorable. However you do hear a clear DJesk sound to it so I was scared a lot of the sound would be prerecorded since it is so highly rhythmically and instrumentally complex and that takes some serious concentration to perform it live. So all the artist stood in circle and I saw them bang those strange and wonderful instruments to create the most intricately beautiful melodies. Just an amazing performance.

I have already given you Odessa so here is Kaili

Song of the day: Jesus Christ, girl.

Hello kids,

So as I mentioned before Radiohead are playing this Thursday. And the good news is I have 2, possibly 3 tickets for you to the very much sold out concert.
So if you are interested please contact me and I will give you more details. You’d be a fool not to go.

So now onto the music. Yesterday was happy clappy music. Today I give you a bit of mystically dark and gloomy one. It comes from Joshua Tillman who now performs as Father John Misty. That name should ring a bell cause Mr. Tillman played in Saxon Shore and more significantly in the all-important indie band Fleet Foxes.

Anyways he just released Fear Fun, his first album under the new name. Today I give you a dark song but an even DARKER video. I’m not really into promoting f*cked upness, so I wasn’t sure about the video at first. But I do find myself watching it several times. And the song is incredible. By the far the most intense part of it is the end when you can hear her screaming locked in the van.

Don’t watch if you feeling fragile

Song of the day: Atoms for ?????

Hello kids,

Only one more sleep till our LIBERATION NIGHT and I can tell you I worked all afternoon and night on my set and your little ears are in for a TREAT tomorrow.
So make sure not to miss it.

The exciting event coming up is that in a week I will going to watch RADIOHEAD perform at  St-Triphon. Are you coming?

So talking of Radiohead, Thom Yorke has a newish project called Atoms for Peace.
But it’s not only Thom there also Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Radiohead producer Nigel Dorich as well as Joey Waronker and Mauro Refosco.
They called it a “supergroup”.

If you recognize the name – well that’s cause it the number 6 track from Thom Yorke’s solo album The Eraser.
And also the the 1953 speech by American President Dwight D. Eisenhower (ya I had to google that).
It only took them a whole year of touring namelessly (being referred to as “????” or more accurately  “Thom Yorke????” ) to come up with it.

So anyways here is the wonderful new single Default.
Video is not bad either.

Hi everyone,

What an experience was last night. I hope there were several of you rockers at Caribana Festival last night. I’m going again tonight for Lou Reed (of The Velvet Underground). I have not seen the Swiss crowd so excited in a while. I will write the full review about last night shortly and send to you. But if you can come join in tonight!

For now let’s do Featured Friday in a bit different way – who was featured last night.

I was highly surprise and impressed by Revolver – the Parisian band that was playing at the festival.
I had listened to one of their songs before and they had seemed good.

But I was not ready for just amazing how this band was live. They gave everything and more to the audience last night.
They are a mix of folk, pop, rock, wonderful harmonies, even some Simon & Garfunkel. Yet all three members praise Radiohead as their godly band.

Unfortunately this band is just not the same on the album as they are live. You will never quite get hold of their beauty on the album.
This is why it’s so great to discover bands live.

Here is Let’s Get Together

Enjoy your wet weekend
